Julia Jarman Films

About Me

My name is Julia Jarman and I am Film Director located in Savannah, GA. Currently, I am a Master of Fine Arts Graduate student for Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design. I received my Bachelor's degree at Marquette University where I was the President and founder of Marquette Filmmakers Association. My work ranges from Short Films to Music Videos to Documentaries.

Why Directing?

As a filmmaker, I always struggled to put myself in a box. I always loved building a camera, using fun colors for lights, picking costumes for the actors, and putting it all together in post-production. Directing is where I can collaborate with it all. I may not be the best at any of those roles, but speaking the language and working with others who are phenomenal at what they do is why I love film. I am a filmmaker who takes each film as a learning opportunity to do better.

My Expertise

Although Directing is my specialty, I also enjoy producing and editing. My favorite software programs are Movie Magic Scheduling and Adobe Premiere. I worked as a Production Director for MUTV and a Wedding Photographer Assistant during my undergraduate years.

Future Goals

In the past few years, I have enjoyed telling stories that blend what it is to be a mother and a human. Since becoming a mother, I have had to navigate balancing it with being an artist, and I want others to know you can be both. As an artist, I want to create art that makes others feel seen. I want to reach a specific target audience and represent what they go through. My academic and professional goals align with appreciating and enjoying being a student so I can one day become an inspiring film professor.
